If my kids wake up in the middle of the night, they cry out “Mommy!”

If they are happy, they scream “Mommy!”

If they’re scared, they run to Mommy.

If they whine, they whine, “Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!”

In the morning, their first words are, “Hi, Mommy!”

When they get hurt, they weep, “Mommmmmmmeeeeee!”

When they return from doing something exciting and fun, they can’t wait to tell Mommy!

It’s exhausting, yes. But I want to be like them.

I want my dependence on God to be as obvious and automatic as my children’s reliance on me.

When I’m scared, happy, sad, frustrated, overjoyed, hurt, excited or whiny, may I run to Him FIRST. May the first words out of my mouth be, “Lord!”
